DEPARTMENT OF PROMOTION OF PSYCHOTHERAPY IN THE SOCIAL FRAMEWORK
APPLICATIONS OF PSYCHOTHERAPY IN THE SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT
“CHILDREN AND SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE”
School No. 22, Craiova, Dolj County
Between April 2010 and June 2010, the ‘Phoenix Medica’ foundation and the Romanian Association of Integrative Psychotherapy jointly carried out the project “Children and Social Intelligence” at School No. 22 ‘Mircea Eliade’ in Craiova.
Starting from the hypothesis that an emotionally intelligent child becomes aware of their emotions, the project's objective was “Practical applications and psychotherapeutic techniques.”
In carrying out the project, it was taken into account that an emotionally intelligent child:
is aware of their emotions and speaks freely about them,
communicates easily about what interests or concerns him,
does not abandon an activity when it becomes difficult,
learns to manage his fear of asking questions or asserting his preferences,
learns how to choose his group of friends with whom he plays or spends his free time, but from whom he can also adopt beneficial behaviors so that he can evolve in a safe social environment,
learns to adapt quickly to new situations or people.
It was also taken into account what S. Heim said, namely that "emotional intelligence means being aware of what you feel and what others feel and knowing what to do about it; knowing what is good for you and what harms you and how to move from bad to good".
The benefits obtained from this project, within grades V-VIII, were:
- the development of communication skills,
- the development of the ability to express and communicate in interpersonal relationships,
- the increase of students' academic performance,
- the development of the ability to analyze stress factors and motivation to achieve the best performance.
This project involved teachers and over 80 students from grades V-VIII of Sc. Generale Nr. 22, “Mircea Eliade” in Craiova. The project was implemented as part of the volunteer program conducted by Ms. Psychologist Cornelia Pegulescu and Ms. Psychologist Nita Elisabeta.
